Antique Specimen Marble Top Gilt Bronze Table – Elkington & Co£7,500.00 + VAT
Very rare & fine quality gilt bronze occasional table with a stunning specimen marble top. We have researched this piece & discovered it was made between 1848 and 1861. The coat of arms on the base celebrates the marriage of the Snowdon and Saumarez families. The top is made up from many different choice pieces of marble. Please enlarge all the images to see the fine details & colours of the marble. Besides the coat of arms, there is also the Elkington & Co mark stamped on one of the legs. This table was valued very recently by Christies to sell for an estimate of £12,000 – £14,000, with a slightly lower reserve. Large Antique Georgian Style Mahogany Console Table£1,500.00 + VAT
Very long solid mahogany console side table in mahogany, with a very unusual top which looks like stone, but isn't. The top must have been made with the rest of the table & it is fixed on. It was made to look like marble or some kind of stone & there is some natural wear to it. It does look great on the table & I've never come across this sort of thing before. It looks like there is wood underneath it. This table was made by 'William Tillman' who were top cabinet makers & it still bears the label underneath. I should think it was made in the 60's & it's antique Georgian in style with many nice features. There is a carved urn with swags in the middle, carved rosettes on all the corners & grooving all around the top frieze. The bold tapered reeded legs culminate with strong spade end feet. The table is a very strong looking piece, with a serpentine shaped front & it's a superb quality item. There is also a generous overhang on the back, to compensate for any skirting boards.
