Stunning pair of high back antique carved walnut armchairs upholstered in the original needlepoint fabric. The needlepoint is in great condition & is hand tacked around the edges. The backs were both quite torn & tatty, so we recovered them is a different fabric, but I’m not happy with that colour fabric, so I will have it replaced with something dark & plain just like the original fabric that was on them. These chairs are very sturdy & the solid walnut frames are beautifully carved all over. Please enlarge all the images to appreciate the depth of carving & the splendid details on the tapestry. These armchairs are fairly large & very impressive. I suppose they are Carolean style & I would say they date to around the 1880’s period. They look like they have come out of a castle or stately home.
