Antique Satin Wood Wardrobe by Hille
£2,500.00 + VATThis antique Satinwood three door wardrobe is a stunning & rare piece of furniture. It was made by the famous London cabinet makers 'S. Hille & Co' around the 1910 period (see their label on the wardrobe in the image). Hille furniture was always top quality & there was an exhibition of their products in the Victoria & Albert museum about 30 years ago that I remember going to. Hille are probably more well know for their later contemporary items – see – http://www.hille.co.uk/history – This wardrobe is not only beautifully made, but it has a very practicably design. Behind the two left hand doors is a large hanging area, with plenty of depth too. There should be a hanging bar running accross the top & we will have one fitted before sending out. It also has all the original brass hooks inside. There are mirrors on the insides of both doors. Behind the right hand door is a combination of pull out slides & shelves. The door panels have arched top mouldings with shell carvings at the tops. The shell carving is repeated on the base with more carvings either side. The top cornice has slight gadrooning & there is some subtle carving in the middle of the top. All the doors have the original brass drop handles & locks. The feet also have a nice shape to them. The nicest thing about this wardrobe is the fact that it's Satinwood, which is quite rare for this sort of thing & the colour is lovely. It has all been fully restored & French polished. This wardrobe comes apart into four sections for easy transportation.
Width – 74″, 188 cm
