This antique marble top commode has just come over from Sweden & has been polished, so it's in excellent condition. It's Neoclassical in style with some stunning marquetry & inlays. The main woods I can make out are Kingwood, walnut, satinwood, plus many more exotic woods within the marquetry. This commode has the original marble top, which is also in good condition & that can just be lifted off. It's also has gilt bronze mounts, trimmings, handles, escutcheons & feet. The gilt bronze is all fine quality & well cast. There are so many amazing features on this piece that I couldn't possibly describe them all so please enlarge all the images. I particularly like the marquetry in the middle of the cherub playing the flute surrounded by the laurel wreath. I would date this commode to around the 1910 period.
