Stunning pair of antique Swedish bergere armchairs with carved satin birch frames & still with the original leather upholstery. The satin birch frames have that typical silky light & dark grain. The carving is excellent all over the frames which also have ball & claw feet. The cane work which is all original, is double skinned & all in good condition. Not only are the frames a wonderful shape, but the leather upholstery is superb & very rare to find. In fact, I've never come across a pair of these bergeres with leather. We have just had the leather revived, polished & enhanced the colour. All the cushions are fully sprung inside, which is how the Swedish made these types of chairs. I would date these bergeres to around the 1920's period.
