A large and very impressive antique Victorian mahogany bookcase. This was made in England, it dates from the 1840-1860 period.
This is of the utmost quality, it is a fantastic size, with lots of storage space in the upper and lower compartments. The top section has three adjustable shelves, the lower section has internal drawers with military campaign style handles. There is nice moulding around the panelled doors, the upper corners of the lower and upper section have beautifully carved corbels.
The quality is excellent, this is a very practical and good looking item. There are locking keys for the upper and lower compartments, this comes apart in two sections for ease of transport. The top should be screwed to the bottom for safety, the screws are included.
We have had this re-polished, it is in lovely condition for its age, with a gorgeous colour tone and patina. There are just a few minor bumps and marks here and there under the polish, commensurate for age.
