Very impressive top quality George IV mahogany bookcase dating from around the 1820’s period & in excellent original condition. It has a wonderful original colour & patina.
It just came out of a private London residence & was in very good condition, but we still sent down to our polisher for a gentle polish & to make sure everything was ship shape.
Please enlarge all the images, because there are so many fine details to look at.
The gadrooned edge top has an interesting curved pediment with carvings in the corners.
There are four carved capitals at the top of the glazed section & four corresponding bold carved corbels at the bottom of the glazed section.
Below this on the cupboard section are more carved capitals & bases.
The four bottom cupboards are panelled & it sits on a plinth base.
The top glazed section has adjustable shelves inside.
Please check the measurement, because it’s kind of mid-height.
