A magnificent Georgian II period chest on chest, beautifully made from walnut & of lovely slim proportions. We would date this from around the 1727-1760 period & it is an extremely fine and rare example.
It is of super quality, with amazing solid brass handles and escutcheons. This sits on bracket feet and has a recessed arch on the lower drawer with an inlaid sunburst design. The drawer fronts all have cross banded inlay and an extra border of inlay and the top section has reeded canted corners. This has stunning figured walnut grain patterns, and a pull out leather top slide in the middle. The drawer bottom are solid oak & the grain runs from back to front.
We have recently had this gently cleaned polished, it is in great condition for its age and has a wonderful patina. I must say, we are not period furniture experts, however it does look like it’s an original piece inside & out.
This chest on chest separates into two sections for easy transportation.
