An excellent original William IV period writing table in mahogany. This was made in England, it dates from around the 1830-1840’s.
It is a superb example, with unusual carving on the turned mahogany legs and three drawers beneath the top. There are concealed caters under the feet, and a beautiful inset leather top that has been hand coloured and gold tooled. The drawer fronts are also solid mahogany, with fine hand cut dovetailed joints, and the back is nicely finished, so this can be used as a free standing desk.
We have recently had this re-polished & it’s in very good condition for its age. There are various old marks and signs of wear here and there, commensurate for age.
