A smart and very well made antique mahogany leather top pedestal desk. This was made in England, it dates from around the 1930-50’s.
It is of outstanding quality and is a very useful size. It is quite wide and also slim from front to back, meaning it is not too imposing but still provides plenty of work space. The pedestals sit on plinth bases, the drawers are beautifully cross banded, they have lovely brass handles and fine, hand cut dovetailed joints. The top has a beautiful inset leather surface which is hand coloured and gold tooled. The back is polished in a different kind of wood, this is possibly designed to be against a wall, but it can be used as a free standing desk if desired.
We have had this recently re-polished, the condition is excellent for its age. The top lifts off and this breaks down into three pieces for ease of transport.
