This antique Victorian deep buttoned leather conversation sofa is in good original condition. The leather has a wonderful tan colour & is naturally distressed, with normal fading that would be expected for a piece of this age. There are no splits, holes or tears & you can feel the crisp horsehair underneath the upholstery. The upholstery is all hand tacked onto the frame. This sofa sits on turned mahogany legs with original casters. I've had a few of these models in the past, but never had one with the original leather. We haven't done any work to this piece & it's just as it came out of a private residence in London. The previous owner had it in the family for a long time. I'm not sure what these were used for originally, but I should think they could have been used in hotels lobbies, art galleries or museums. This piece dates to around the 1840-60's period.
