A magnificent pair of antique French carved gilt wood armchairs. These were made in France, we would date them to around the 1880-1900 period.

They are of extremely fine quality, with stunning carving all over the frames. The backs have a spoon back design, they have scrolled arm rests and sit on turned, fluted legs. They are beautifully gilded, the gilding has worn through in places and distressed in just the right way. There are tinges of the red undercoat seen in places, mostly on the fronts of the arms.

These are very sturdy and comfortable, we have given the frames a light clean and they have been fully re-upholstered in our cream cotton fabric, with feather filled seat cushions.
