This antique French marble top commode is Kingwood with many other exotic wood within the marquetry & inlays. It's fabulous quality & beautifully designed. The original marble top which lifts off, is very colourful with lovely patterns. There are three drawers below. The top one has fine inlays. The bottom two drawers have superb floral & musical marquetry running through both of them. This commode also has high quality git bronze mounts, handles & escutcheons. The front corners are canted & the sides have strongly figured kingwood panels. This chest is in excellent condition & has a lovely mellow colour with vivid patterns. I would date it to around the 1890-1910 period.
