A fantastic antique Georgian burr walnut writing bureau. This was made in England, it dates from around the 1800-1820 period.
It is of superb quality and has some quite unusual and useful features. The drop down writing surface is nicely fitted out with internal drawers, pigeon holes and a small cupboard. The drawers beneath have plenty of storage space and additionally, there is a brush slide shelf that pulls out in the centre above the top drawer, and two more brush slide shelves that are built in to the top of the sides.
This has gorgeous burr walnut grain patterns, even on the inside and the drawer fronts are nicely cross banded.
We have had this recently re-polished, the condition is very good for its age. Under the polish there is just some minor wear and old repairs to be seen to some of the walnut veneers on the writing flap, seen in the images.
