This antique George III period mahogany library bookcase is in excellent original condition & has had no repairs, just a polish. It’s also free from any splits, warps or woodworm & is of high quality.
The top cornice has a dental moulding & the top doors are astral-glazed. Inside the glazed section are adjustable bookshelves which side in & out on inset grooves. There are original brass beadings attached to the doors on both sections. The bottom section which is far deeper, has two panelled cupboards with a single shelf inside & there are bracket feet below.
This bookcase which comes apart into two sections has a nice warm colour. It dates to around the 1790’s period & is an exceptional example of this sort of thing. Please enlarge all of the images to see for yourselves.
