I've had many campaign desks, but I've never had an ebonised one. This fine quality desk has a wonderful look, because the brass work stands out better on the black background. I would date this desk to around the 1860-80's period & it's in good condition. It has a gold tooled leather writing surface & a brass top edge. The brass edging is also all around the pedestals & on the back of this desk too. The brass military handles are stunning & embedded into the drawers. All the drawers have old locks, although we didn't get any keys. This desk sits on pedestals that have concealed casters underneath. It comes apart into three sections, so transportation is easy.
