This is a very fine quality antique Victorian games & sewing table which has facilities for playing backgammon, chess & cribbage. Dating from around the 1870’s, it’s in excellent original condition, free from warps & splits. The wood is predominately burr walnut & there are fine satinwood inlays on the top, sides, back & on the drawer. The single drawer is sycamore lined with many compartments & pin cushions. It must have been meant for use in conjunction with the slide out work box below. The playing surfaces are stunning & very colourful. They are made up from many exotic woods & very detailed. This table sits on four turned legs that are nicely turned, carved & fluted, as is the cross stretcher between. There are four beautifully carved cabriole legs with the original white porcelain casters & in-between the legs are the original top & bottom finials. The top half of this games table is veneered in the most beautifully patterned burr walnut & the bottom half is all solid walnut.
