A very handsome and extremely comfortable antique Victorian armchair, this dates from around the 1860-1880 period.
It is of very high quality, upholstered in a beautiful brass tacked burgundy/brown leather, with a deep buttoned back, upholstered arms & a fully sprung seat. It is in excellent condition for its age, the leather has just the right amount of wear, with no rips or tears.
The mahogany frame is very well made, sturdy and sound with only some light superficial wear as expected from a chair of this age. There are boldly turned & fluted rails under the arms & the turned fluted legs have some fine details too. They sit on the original brass cupped casters.
