A fantastic antique Victorian mahogany leather top pedestal desk. This was made in England, it dates from around the 1860-1880 period.
It is of superb quality and is a great size, with lots of lovely features. The pedestal bases sit on interesting ogee bracket feet with gadrooned edges, there are high quality brass ring pull handles on the drawers and fine, hand cut dovetailed joints. The drawers contain Hobbs locks and the top drawers have built in dividers. The edges of the pedestals are canted, the back is nicely finished so this can be used as a free standing item.
The inset leather top is a beautiful tone of green and has gold tooled edges. There are also tray slide shelves that pull out on either side beneath the top.
We have recently had this re-polished, the condition is excellent for its age.
