Antique Victorian elm captains armchair in good condition & stable. It’s stable because of the excellent construction & the turned ‘H’ stretchers between the legs. It’s also comfortable because of the curved back & shaped out seat. This chair has swept out arms with beautifully turned rails below & turned legs. I would date it to around the 1860-80’s period. These chairs also work well as desk chairs & can also take a loose seat cushion if needed.
