An extremely impressive and well made antique Victorian desk in solid walnut. This was made by the high end cabinet maker James Shoolbred & Co in England, it dates from around the 1870-1890 period.
It is of magnificent quality, with lots of fine features. There is a large back gallery with four small drawers and a carved central section which lifts up to reveal letter storage and compartments for pens / inkwells. The central section of the leather top writing surface also lifts up to reveal more storage and internal drawers. The turned legs sit on brass casters and locks are all made by Hobbs, the finest locksmith of the time. The back is also nicely finished, so this can be used as a free standing desk.
We have recently had this re-polished, the condition is fantastic for its age. There are just some minor marks and normal wear for a piece of this age here and there.
This desk does come apart into three sections for easy transportation.
