This is one of the nicest antique Sutherland tables I’ve had & it’s in excellent original condition, with a lovely warm colour & dating to around the 1860’s period.
It has a shaped burr walnut top which has beautiful patterns & is nicely inlaid too. The turned legs fold in so the flaps drop down to make it an extremely slim table that takes up no room, which is the main idea of Sutherland tables.
This one can be used as a dining table, tea table or games table, because the height is 29 inches, which is correct for a dining table. The fixed legs are nicely turned, with fine carvings at the base, on the cabriole legs & along the turned middle stretcher. All the legs sit on original white porcelain casters.
