An exquisite pair of tall antique marble top chests with concave fronts, beautifully made from a combination of woods. These were made in France & I would date them from around the 1910-20’s period.
The quality is absolutely superb, they are wonderfully constructed and are a very useful size. They are predominantly kingwood, with elm and satin wood inlays around all edges. There are beautifully made with solid gilt bronze mounts and original handles. The drawers have fine dovetailed joints, and the loose marble tops that sit on these are also stunning.
The condition is excellent for their age, we have recently had them re-polished to a very high standard. The marble tops have a few tiny chips here and there, nothing that affects the strength or overall look.
There are many fine details all over these chests & the figuring in the woods are amazing, so please enlarge all the images to really appreciate them.
