Very impressive & extremely high quality set of eight antique walnut dining chairs, dating from around the 1910-20's period. They are Queen Anne style & have large proportions, with some wonderful features. Please enlarge every image to see all the fine details. These chairs are solid walnut, with burr walnut centre splats & figure walnut around the seats. They are exquisitely hand carved on the tops & on the legs, with well defined claw & ball feet. I particularly like the carved side pieces towards the base of the shaped centre splats. The two carver chairs have shepherds crook shaped open arms & drop in seats that have just been re-upholstered. The advantage of these drop in seats is that they don't cost much to recover. The carvers are larger in proportion the the other six chairs, as is often the case. All these chairs are in excellent condition, sturdy & sound. They have just been French polished & the colour of the wood is rich. I think you will be hard pushed to find a nicer original antique set in this style on the market. Please don't confuse these with the brand new copies being passed of as old on the market.
