A stunning antique Anglo-Indian colonial partners desk / writing table in solid padauk wood. This was made in the Colonies by English cabinet makers, it dates from around the 1820-1840 period.
The quality is amazing, this is extremely well made and very heavy. It has a beautifully carved stretchered base, with a large leather top writing surface. This is finished identically on the back and front, with three drawers on each side. The carved hairy paw feet sit on brass casters, the leather top is hand coloured and gold tooled.
We have recently had this re-polished, it is in excellent condition for its age. There are various small marks and bumps here and there beneath the polish, commensurate for age. This displays a wonderful patina.
