A fantastic original antique William IV period writing table / desk in mahogany. This was made in England, it dates from around the 1830-1840’s.
The quality is superb and this is of useful proportions, with a generous work space. The inset leather top is hand coloured and gold tooled, this has a polished back so it can be used as a free standing item. The turned mahogany legs are very bold with a lovely octagonal design, terminating in brass casters. The handles are also turned nicely from solid mahogany, the drawers have fine hand cut dovetail joints.
We have had this recently re-polished, the condition is excellent for its age. It has acquired a beautiful patina and colour tone over the years, there are various small marks and indentations beneath the polish here and there, commensurate for age.
