This large antique mahogany open bookcase has been reconstructed from very old timbers taken off antique wardrobes, pianos, etc. I had a very similar piece ordered to size by a client who was very happy with it. In fact I liked it so much that I ordered one too, because it’s the sort of piece that everyone wants an original of, but won’t find. This is the next best thing. It’s made with solid timbers & is beautifully made. There are two separate compartments each with adjustable pine shelves, faced off in mahogany. In the corners are ‘shark tooth’ supports, just like the Victorian ones. The top cornice just lifts off, the middle separates into two sections, which lift off the plinth. This is a very practicable piece of furniture & will hold a lot of books. This bookcase has been hand ‘French Polished’ & so has a nice overall character.
