An absolutely stunning antique Art Nouveau armchair in mahogany. This was made in England, it dates from around the 1890-1900 period.
It is beautifully made and is of great quality. The tulip shaped back is pierced, with fine carving, intricate inlaid patterns & many exotic woods. The shepherd’s crook arms and cabriole legs are nicely shaped and also have satinwood inlay. The mahogany has acquired a wonderful colour tone and patina over the years.
We have recently had this re-polished and the seat has been re-upholstered in a cream cotton fabric. The condition is excellent for its age.
This has to be one of the finest examples I’ve seen of this type of thing. Please enlarge all the images to see all the fine details.
