A stunning and unusual pair of antique armchairs with beautiful leather upholstery. These were made in continental Europe, possibly Belgium or France & they date from around the 1860-1880’s period.
The solid oak frames are beautifully carved throughout, and have exceptional carved arm rests in the images of lions heads. The legs are finely turned, with curved stretchered bases and brass casters under the front feet.
These have a wonderful patina throughout, the wood is nicely polished and the leather has a gorgeous tanned colour.
The condition is excellent for their age, with just some extremely minor wear here and there. One of the lions heads is missing the lower teeth, though that is barely noticeable. Overall these are clean, sturdy and sound.
