This very attractive antique walnut kneehole desk is extremely good quality & in good condition. It's very compact with seven drawers & a cupboard set back inside the kneehole part. I would date this piece to around the 1880-90's period & it's a very good copy of 17th century desk, in fact at first I thought it was that old. The top has a faded black tooled leather writing surface. The back & sides are figured walnut with cross banded edges. There's one long drawer with three drawers below on either side. They are all burr walnut with herringbone inlaid edges, fine dovetails, original chased brass handles, escutcheons & locks. The cupboard is also burr walnut & it sits on figured walnut bracket feet. The walnut on this desk is beautifully figured & the colour is fabulous.
